Benefits Associated with this Position
  • Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
  • Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
  • TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of ten (10) percent of base appointment salary paid in full by ISU. The contributions are vested immediately. There are 40 investment options from which to choose.
  • TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days.
  • Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three (3) years of continuous, regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66 2/3 percent income protection (from all sources) after 180 days of continuous total disability. Immediate participation is available for current members of a comparable group disability insurance program within 90 days prior to ISU employment and that would have provided income protection upon disability for at least five years.
  • Fee Waiver Program: For the employee, spouse and dependent children: Staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. Spouses may enroll in 15 semester hours each academic year with 80% of qualified tuition waived. Dependent children of regular full-time staff who are full-time degree seeking undergraduate students at ISU may receive a fee waiver of 80% of qualified tuition for up to a total of ten (10) semesters.
  • Sick Leave: Accrued at a rate of 12 days per fiscal year with unlimited accumulation.
  • Vacation: Pay level 11 and below accrues up to 15 vacation days earned per year 1 through 4; 20 vacation days per year thereafter. Pay level 12 and above accrues 20 vacation days per year

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Web Content and Digital Strategy Director is responsible for evolving the university brand through strategizing the continuous improvement of website features, content, information architecture, data collection, and analysis to support the institutional goals of the university, including but not limited to areas of recruitment, retention, and telling the story of Indiana State University. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for web and digital opportunities and is a brand ambassador ensuring the brand message is conveyed, integrated, and established across all sites. This position oversees the design, development, and implementation of web and new media projects, including podcasts and social media. Proficient communication skills are a must, along with people skills with a high degree of professionalism is required. Must demonstrate a high commitment to quality, innovation, proactive solutions, creativity, and strategic thinking to meet university goals.
Being present is essential for serving campus and performing the essential functions of this position. However, there may be some flexibility for remote work.

Specific Responsibilities

Required Relevant Education & Experience
Master’s Degree in computer science or related field.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience in web development, combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Practical understanding of web best practices as it relates to web accessibility, UI/UX, user and marketing funnels, governance, search engine optimization, etc.
Experience with data driven decision making and data analysis using Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, SiteImprove, expert knowledge of Drupal CMS (preferably Drupal 9/10; full stack), Slate CMS, and Basic HTML/CSS coding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate as the key subject matter expert for the university’s digital technology. Strategizing website content and design efforts with a focus on user experience, ADA compliance, and search engine optimization; identifying goals, objectives, and key performance metrics for content development. Managing information architecture, hierarchy, navigation, and interface design; creating, implementing, and ensuring compliance in brand standards; developing governance, policies, procedures, and comprehensive training for web editors. Lead the development of a process for content approval while also serving as the primary liaison for all web content and updates between colleges/departments/programs, University Marketing and University Communications. As the primary website owner, make key decisions on content migration processes, research, and implement long-term solutions related to website accessibility and design.

Work collaboratively with the Office of Information Technology on specific projects and management of content internally and externally for the university. Manage and lead cross-functional teams internally and externally with partner agencies/contractors/vendors/consultants to meet the goals of website projects and implementation timelines. Provide advice and consultation to campus partners while collaborating on web content development projects (including, but not limited to, copy, photography, and video). Develop relationship with Athletics and Foundation web architects to endure compliance to brand standards, policies, and procedures.
