Youth Counselor - Swing Shift Job at Koinonia Family Services
Koinonia Family Services is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Youth Counselor in its Koinonia Connections Emergency Placement Program in Rocklin, CA. The program serves young people 6 to 17 years of age with challenging behaviors who are placed in the program on a short-term basis due to trauma until such time as a more suitable placement setting can be arranged.
We are looking to fill the following shifts:
Wednesday through Saturday: Wed, Thurs, and Fri 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Sat 8:00 am - 11:00 pm
The Youth Counselor position provides direct supervision for up to six residents as they complete their daily program activities. This includes implementing program with challenging youth, intervening in a trauma-informed manner when youth display challenging behaviors, maintaining documentation, and assisting with the daily routine of running the program.
Koinonia offers a competitive wage starting at $18.00-$22.00 per hour or higher based on education and experience. Full-time positions include employee-only medical/dental/vision, holiday pay premium, paid time off (PTO), and participation in Koinonia's 401k plan.
Staff shall be at least 21 years of age and have one of the following requirements: Bachelor of arts or science degree; a valid child development teaching permit; have completed 12 semester units of early childhood education, adolescent development or foster and kinship care education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; have a valid alcohol and drug counselor certificate and 100 hours of experience working with youth; a valid vocational training certificate demonstrating the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocations skills and has at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; previously employed as staff in a group home for at least one year; or equivalent education and experience.
Koinonia observes safe working protocols to enhance employee safety during the pandemic. This includes a worksite specific prevention plan at the office. In-person work is required, and Koinonia provides personal protective equipment and training for such purposes.
