Summer Camp Director - $21 per hour

Amazing opportunity for high school and college students, aspiring or current teachers, or anyone who loves working with kids! Located in the beautiful village of Stowe, Vermont, Stowe Rec Summer Camp offers children the quintessential day camp experience. Our summer camp serves kids in K-9th grade. Each group of campers is led by 2-3 counselors. Stowe Parks & Recreation is currently seeking energetic, team oriented, and motivated individuals who have experience working with children or in a recreational field.​

As a Camp Director, you will work closely with the Program Director, Group Coordinators, and Camp Counselors to ensure a safe, quality program. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Plan and conduct training sessions prior to the camp’s start date.
• Responsible for assigning staff to certain age group and supervisory responsibilities associated as such.
• Assist in the pre-season planning of Camp activities – to include program planning, ordering supplies, preparing schedules and staff orientation
• Oversee daily program activities and counselors to include supervision of staff –as well as adherence to rules and regulations for the daily conduct of Camp
• Evaluates camp programs and counselors at the completion of the summer.
• Work with the Program Director to submit a Camp Director’s report at the completion of the season.
• Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment on a daily basis. Obtain necessary supplies & equipment.
• Actively participate in staff meetings.
• Responsible for coaching and support youth with behavioral issues.
• Ensure the care and maintenance of a safe and healthy facility at all times.
• Promotes a safe and respectful work culture through positive role modeling and strong communication skills; immediately puts a stop to any speech or behaviors which are discriminatory or otherwise conveys disrespect to others.

Shifts are Monday-Friday and generally from 7am-3pm, approximately 8 hours per day. First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard certifications are preferred, though training may be provided. Season is from June 2023- August 2023. Join us for a delightful and fulfilling summer season!
