Manages the entire reimbursement function as it relates to all of the healthcare facilities within the Community System.
Accountabilities
- Manages the reimbursement analyst staff on the completion of third party cost reports, audit work papers, appeal support, OSHPD preparation, PIP submissions and other functions ensuring that all reimbursement enhancements or opportunities are applied.
- Mentors staff, other hospital departments, leadership on new and existing reimbursement regulations and their potential affect on the hospital or department.
- Manages all government reimbursement third party audits and acts as the primary contact between audit management and their representatives (Medicare, Medicaid, OSHPD). Manages all appeals, cost report re-openings and acts as the primary contact with provider reimbursement review board (PRRB) on all federal appeals.
- Reviews and provides sign-off on all analysis/reports completed by the reimbursement analysts prior to release or publication. Reviews and provides sign-off on all submitted analysis/reports prepared by other departments that may have an affect on government reimbursement.
- Acts as the primary liaison between finance and senior management, outside consultants, attorneys, etc. on all issues related to reimbursement
- Actively participates in the decision making processes of compliance, revenue cycle, licensing, coding and at times, may directly manage some or all of the activities in these areas or any other area deemed closely associated with the reimbursement function.
- Directly responsible (with support from Human Resources) for employee engagement and people management processes including interviewing and selection, time and attendance approval, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations, employee development, employee retention, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
