About the job:
The Rehab Aide performs routine tasks related to the operation of the Therapy Department. Assists with participant-related activities predetermined for each participant as delegated by the Physical or Occupational Therapist.
Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. - Unencumbered certification as Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Colorado.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one year’s experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction and communicate effectively with participants and other staff members.
- Manual and finger dexterity is required to operate and adjust equipment.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Ability to observe all necessary precautions in the operation of equipment.
- Body coordination needed to assist in positioning resident comfortably in wheel chair and in, at, or on equipment.
- Capable of following standard procedures and detailed instructions when assisting with residents and setting‑up equipment.
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
- Ability to perform clerical functions and remain organized with a variety of work tasks/duties.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
Essentials:
Performs a variety of functions to maintain the therapy gym and treatment areas on a daily, weekly, and as-needed basis.
Prepares and cleans up therapy treatment areas between therapy sessions.
Leads or assists with daily exercise groups and/or performs other direct participant care as delegated by the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist.
Documents in the electronic medical records following organizational policy.
Orders, stocks, and delivers therapy items as directed by the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist.
Assists with inventory management of durable medical equipment (DME) and therapy items.
Assists with managing the Therapy Department schedule including contacting participants and working with the Physical Therapist and Occupational therapist to establish schedule.
Is expected to consistently practice in alignment with program cultural/behavioral standards (Fundamentals).
Acts within the scope of his or her authority to practice
Follows all Senior Community Care policies and procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines.
Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions, and practices Universal Precautions.
Maintains safe working environment. Follows Senior Community Care Safety policies and procedures.
Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about employees, participants and families.
Participates in and supports Quality Improvement Initiatives.
Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
Performs other duties as required or requested.
