Manufacturing Operator/Machine Operator/ General Operator - All Shifts Job at Lear Corporation
Dye Operator:
Accurately weighs, prepares, and delivers required dyes and chemicals to all beam and jet dye machines in a timely manner to minimize machine down time. Receives dye order from control room operator and reviews the dye recipe. Weighs all dyes using the electric scale. Print the scale readout after weighing each dye to verify accuracy of preparation. Verify cleanliness of dye cans prior to preparing any dyes. Mix dyes using the established written standard procedures. Disperse dyes. Deliver dye cans / chemical buckets along with copy of dye order to the correct dye machine.
Knitting Warp Hanger / Doffer:
Transports yarn to knitting machines. Use power industrial truck to move full beams from warehouse to staging area. If necessary, remove full beams from beam racks and place beams on buggies. Return empty beams to warehouse. Install empty beams into beam racks and store the beam rack. Remove weigh and record the waste yarn. Loads / Unloads the knitting machine(s). Use bridge crane or gantry and hand tools to remove empty beams from the machine. Climb onto machine and attach hoist to the beam shaft. Loosen the saddle / clamps and lift beams off the machine. Remove shaft from empty beams and insert into full beams. Lubricate machine parts as required. Perform daily inspections on list trucks. Repair defective beam shafts and clamps when possible.
Framing Operator:
Reviews dye order and SOP to determine the machine set up. Threads fabric into machine per the standard. Operation of the framing machine (maintaining proper speeds, width, overfeed, etc. as pe the standard.) Making proper machine adjustments as necessary. Visually monitoring fabric. Check that fabric is being fed properly onto the pins. Report and issues to the supervisor. Record production on reports. Enter dye order information in the WIP computer.
Knitting Operator:
Assists in keeping machines in constant operation. Repairing smashes. Lifting / dropping of bars and removal and re-alignment of guides. Check front / back of assigned machine(s) to ensure there’s no productivity / quality issues at completion of repairs. Startup of the machine Records all defects on ticket and production report. Correctly documents any other required information on paperwork.
Inspection Material Handler:
Stage / remove A-frames for selected inspection machines. Prepare frames for banding / taping. Ability to lift 50 pounds / use equipment to lift rolls over 50 pounds. Replenish inspector’s tables with tape, tabs and flags. Take completed orders to Quality office.
Inspection Operator:
Inspection of finished fabric to assure compliance and quality. Remove fabric defects, ticket, and bag rolls. Loading of fabric onto machine. Monitor fabric for defects (record any defects.) Thread fabric through machine and on to take up roll. Unload machine. Record production / quality information. Cut fabric at required yardage. Tape rolls. Prepare and fasten tickets. Bag roll and tie / place roll on pallet.
Double Needle Bar Technician:
Operation of double needle bar machine, weft insertion and tricot machines including yarn repairs and changeovers of the machines. Doffing of fabric and spot beaming. Preparing and hanging warps on all knitting machines, maintaining, and making changes to mechanical components to ensure a quality fabric is knit. Assists with style changes and other duties as assigned by managers. In other words, all DNB Tech’s must learn both knitting and warping departments as all jobs are done in this department.
Inspection – Master Utility:
Duties will include, but not limited to, material handle using power moving equipment, pulling inventory, perform system transactions, staging and setting up materials, operate multiple (2 to 4) manual and auto inspection machines, and work independently in small self-managed teams.
Dyeing Preparer:
Dye Preparer is a pulldown/Batcher machine operator. Their job is to prepare the fabric to dye by Jet or Beam process. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. The pulldown machine puts fabric into buggies by weight to jet dye in the next process. Operators will be standing while running the machine for 8 to 10 hours a day depending on the shift. The batcher machine puts fabric on a beam by yards to go to the beam dye process. This machine will require Ceiling Crane training that we provide internally. Operators will be standing while running the machine for 8 to 10 hours a day depending on the shift. Both machines are not labor cumbersome but do require attention to detail, basic math, weight scale use, and reading for SOP’s.
Flame Lamination:
Perform different duties on the Flame Laminator: Load foam, face, and backing rolls at the correct stations, inspect finished product, and work as a team. Fill out paperwork accordingly. (Lifting up to 50lbs should be a requirement)
Drum Lamination:
Performing duties consist of a team of 3 individuals working together to fuse 2 fabrics into 1 finished composite. The drum utilizes heat to melt an adhesive layer between the face and backing fabric, so when it comes out of the drum, the fabric is cooled and now the two fabrics are together as one. It is a nonstop process, so you are continuously working together to change rolls as they run out, and change A frames as the dye lots are completed.
