HEALTH SERVICES WORKER I


The Position

The position is responsible for the coordination of BFHD outreach efforts, supports Health Benefits Exchange navigation enrollment for BFHD clients, and supports community members and the community-based workforce to access connections and resources to support health.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates and organizes meetings, activities, and functions.
  • Engages with clients to enroll in Health Benefits Exchange and other community resources.
  • Represents BFHD at community meetings as directed.
  • Coordinates BFHD presence at community events.
  • Facilitates connections for individuals in the community in need of health services; explains programs available and other community resources.
  • Supports the expansion and coordination of the counties' community-based workforce.
  • May work with the public, clients, other departmental personnel or staff of other businesses to provide information to ensure compliance and an understanding of the agency rules, regulations, or functions.
  • Maintain current knowledge and comply with all RCW's, HIPPA regulations and department/agency policies and procedures to protect the privacy and security of protected health information and confidential information.
  • May be required to perform and document Medicaid Administrative Match activities per the Medicaid administrative Match Training Manual for LHJs.

  • Respond to public health emergency drills/exercises or actual events as requested.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of organization, function and services of community agencies and resources.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC computer applications such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized software and web based programs.
  • Excellent skills in grammar, spelling and arithmetic.
  • Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to a diverse staff and clientele to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work with details and analyze data for correctness with a high degree of accuracy, prioritizing workload to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other staff, as well as professionals in the community.
  • Bilingual Spanish required.

The Requirements & Selection Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: high school diploma or GED. Two years of college education preferred. Five years of experience with office work processes, customer service and use of office technology with limited task supervision. Bilingual Spanish.

Additional Requirements: Performance of job duties requires driving on a regular basis, a valid Washington State driver's license, the use of the incumbent's personal motor vehicle when a District fleet vehicle is not available for use, and proof of appropriate auto insurance.

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Information, in accordance with Washington State Governor's Proclamation 21.14.2, as a condition of employment, BFHD employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical/religious accommodation by time of hire. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their final dose in a vaccine series. Vaccine or an approved accommodation will be verified prior to first day of work.
