On-Farm Business Developer Job at Nature Energy
The on-farm business developer will be responsible for identifying and establishing partnerships with farmers to develop a valuable network and foster business relationships for Nature Energy. You will play an essential role in negotiating and acquiring feedstock supply agreements with farmers while emphasizing ongoing farmer-partner relationship management and ensuring long and healthy business relationships between partner farmers and Nature Energy.
The main focus of the role will be helping to secure manure feedstocks from dairies, as well as other animal operations such as hogs and poultry. It's important that this person has a strong network in the Minnesota and Wisconsin agricultural sectors. This network could have been developed, for example, via farm sales relating to crop production, animal health, animal nutrition, etc.
Area of responsibilities and tasks
- Use available resources, including existing network, to locate, screen, and engage with dairy, hog, poultry, and crop farms
- Engage with farmers to develop strong and enduring relationships for Nature Energy
- Meet with farmers to discuss available feedstocks for anaerobic digestion at US facilities
- Negotiate terms and conditions with farmers for acquiring feedstocks (feedstock supply agreements)
- Execute and deliver on farm-based feedstock supply goals for the US
- Assist business development team as needed (ex: developing presentation, marketing, and sales materials related to feedstock supply)
- In partnership with Agronomists, assist farmers with nutrient return terms and conditions and on-farm nutrient management

We are looking for a dedicated on-farm business developer with several years of experience who demonstrates great project management skills with negotiating and stakeholder management.
You must communicate well with colleagues and stakeholders across functions and areas of expertise. Therefore, you must possess great interpersonal skills and maintain good relations while managing the unpredictability of various agendas and interests.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum four years of on-farm business development experience with strong negotiation and networking skills
- Being able to manage the unpredictability of various agendas and interests while demonstrating a strategic mindset
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for relationship management
- Experience managing customer contacts and sales flow in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to work cross-functionally across the entire organization (regulatory, legal, finance, engineering, strategic planning, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Travel
- This role will require frequent travel to farms; approximately 50% or more travel is expected
- Occasional travel to Denmark
