JOB DESCRIPTION: GRANT BILLING SPECIALIST

Join Children’s Law Center of California (CLC) and become part of an amazing team supporting children and youth in foster care! CLC is the largest children’s legal services organization in the nation, with over 600 employees serving 28,000 children and young adults in the Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Placer County child welfare systems.

CLC is looking to hire a dedicated Grant Billing Specialist to join our growing Finance team. We are a 500+ employee-focused nonprofit organization with an annual budget of over $70 million. Reporting to the Controller, the Grant Billing Specialist is responsible for the billing of the government contracts. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and proactive team player able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. While this position is primarily remote, the successful candidate will be expected to be present at our Monterey Park headquarters approximately twice a month.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor grant expenses, provide grant and financial reconciliation, and conduct research-related financial reporting
  • Work collaboratively with accounting, payroll, other employees/vendors to ensure billing accuracy
  • Prepare grant invoices and ensure the compliance of program guidelines before final submission to the government agency
  • Track and report grant budgets
  • Develop project plans to meet all deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Perform various other accounting and administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or similar finance-related area
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience in accounting/billing; grant billing experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications, and the ability to interact with employees and government agencies
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must reside in the Southern California area
  • Must be able to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus booster status

Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000, based on relevant experience as determined by CLC. CLC offers an excellent benefits package including 15 PTO days and 12 sick days in the first year, an up to 6% employer-matched retirement plan, and generous Family and Medical Leave and health care plans.
