POSITION SUMMARY:

The union Forklift Operator role may require you to work 1st or 2nd shift. It provides an opportunity for the candidate to develop skills as an advanced warehouse professional in our food production facility in Totowa, NJ. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the shipments of our finished good products are supplied to our customers correctly and on-time.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Receiving and put-away ingredients.
• Loading and unloading finished good pallets and shipping to our internal and external customers.
• Giving recommendations to work safer, more efficiency and better serve our customers.

SELF-MANAGEMENT

• Work in a safe manner and comply with the Environment, Safety and Health policies.
• Collaborative approach when dealing with others.
• Keep work environment clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and all written procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Experienced in performing electronic transactions associated with physical movements of ingredients across the production facility.
• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Able to drive a forklift.
• Able to physically re-stack pallets with ingredients up to 55 pounds each.
• Work accurately and methodically.
• Good communication skills, face to face as well as over a radio system.
• Good understanding of our customers and impact of errors and the cost of poor quality.
• Relocate full pallets to single pallet locations.
• Pick both full and partial pallets and stage for shipment.
• Accurately load trailers shipping to our internal and external customers.
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may change and new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. Production/Warehouse areas are dusty.
• Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
• Workers usually stand for the majority of their shifts while tending machines or driving a forklift. Occasionally lifts 55-pound bags or boxes. Loading, unloading, or cleaning equipment may require lifting, bending, and reaching.
