WE LOVE OUR WORK.:
  • Responsible for maintenance of lawn and/or grass using mowers, edgers, and trimmers.
  • Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees, or shrubs.
  • Cleans up trash in parking lots/garages and exterior grounds.
  • Empty and clean trash containers.
  • Assist in snow removal and cleanup.
  • Assists in overall maintenance of grounds using equipment such as power washers, sweeper truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edgers, etc.
  • Fastens attachments such as grader, harrows, floats, and rollers to tractors with hitch pins.
  • Releases brakes, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.
  • Steers tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.
  • Assists in maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.
  • Delivers sand and clay to racetrack and barn areas.
  • Must clean all equipment used.
  • Must report problems with machinery or attachments to Motor Pool.
  • Assists all areas of the department when needed.
  • Assists with transportation of disabled horses.
  • Raking material around the racing surface.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have 1-year maintenance experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Employee must be able to qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License. Must possess a valid drivers’ license for the state in which you reside. In addition to a pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles. Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
