Summary

The Children's Institute at Jericho has a part time yearly position open for the right person. We are seeking an Associate or Assistant Teacher with a passion for working with young children in our community. The candidate will offer flexible thinking, curiosity, and creativity as part of a larger teaching team that strategizes and explores the implementation of core Montessori principles. If you have credentials to be an Assistant Teacher and interested in becoming an Associate Teacher please apply. Training and coaching will be provided to ensure the success and happiness of the Associate Teacher.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the lead guide, and other classroom guides to implement quality education and developing positive relationships with the children and their parents. Candidate will have strong organizational skills that allow for the structure and routine young children need. Will work to prepare and maintain a prepared Montessori environment in which the furnishings and materials are developmentally appropriate and welcoming to children. Candidate will ensure safety and well-being of students in the classroom.

Start Date: Monday, August 21, 2023
Position: Toddler Assistant or Co-Teacher - Full-Time, 12 months a year - 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday (40 hrs/wk)

Duties
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements
  • Must meet VT Licensing and Regulations for an Assistant: https://outside.vermont.gov/dept/DCF/Shared%20Documents/CDD/Licensing/CC-CenterBased-Regs.pdf
  • If you do not already have an A.A. in Early Childhood Education we require you to earn an ECE Early Education Certificate or an ECE Associate Degree
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening.
