Position Summary

The Donor Relations Coordinator reports to the Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement & Stewardship, McKelvey Engineering, and is part of the highly integrated University Advancement team. All members of the team are an important component of engineering’s success by developing relationships with and securing resources from engineering alumni and partners. Building relationships with alumni and partners is central to engineering’s strategic plan. Candidate must be highly motivated, insightful about people, possess excellent technology skills, project management, customer service, critical thinking skills, and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

Job Description

This position requires availability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as necessary.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain donor giving information and assist with the gift acknowledgements process. Support fundraising appeals and special projects as assigned.
  • Communicate with and steward donors; assist advancement staff with the coordination of stewardship activities and prospect research, including recognition of donor birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events.
  • Support the scholarship program with review of matching criteria, creation of donor/student bios and oversee scholarship module.
  • Develop and implement a stewardship process for donors who have established scholarships, professorships, research funds, award funds, challenges, lecture funds, etc. Ensure alignment, coordination and collaboration with the central UA Donor Relations team.
  • Maintain donor relationship management database, including updating donor records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and pulling reports/queries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Understanding of institutional development, donor relations, and stewardship.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, MyEmma and other digital communication tools, and ability to learn other technology.
  • Excellent oral / written communication and proofing reading skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and deadlines.
  • Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively with both internal and external constituencies.
  • Proven success working both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to use technology to manage prospect data and programs including solid computer literacy.
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies within a complex organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with a willingness to take initiative.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification and five years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience.

Salary Range

$22.25 - $34.45 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
