The Opportunity
At Ford, our Plant HR teams are a critical part of the leadership operating committees that drive our commitment to manufacturing excellence. The Plant HR Director is responsible for managing all Human Resources functions for plant management, hourly and salaried employees within a complex manufacturing environment. Plant HR leaders are strategic Human Resource business partners who bring the ability to build strong relationships, to be a trusted partner to all levels of employees within their facility and to drive a world class employee experience. In this role you will:
- Guide and influence the plant Operating Committee (Plant Managers etc.) on creating a world class employee experience within the facility
- Drive and support the development of the facility’s Human Resources team
- Assist plant leadership in living the Ford OS behaviors and promoting a culture of Excellence, Focus and Collaboration
- Support, coach and counsel operating managers and salaried staff in people related matters
- Support and champion the Ford Production System (FPS) to drive standardized processes and procedures
- Oversee the management of union/relations and hourly personnel administration including overseeing the grievance process
- Partner with Labor Relations experts in UAW contract negotiations and administration
- Driving organization and personnel planning
- Administering all salaried personnel matters
- Partner with the Employee Relations Center of Excellence as needed in both ongoing and preventative measures
- Oversee recruitment and hiring initiatives including partnering with Operations Committee and line leaders to help them to build their knowledge of effective and legal interviewing/recruitment practices
- Support Health and Safety, Training, Medical and Workers' compensation
- Monitor communications (hourly and salaried) ensuring effective communication across the facility
- Drive and participate in community initiatives and relations
- Serve as an interface for local government as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's required, Master's preferred
- 8+ years of Human Resources or Employee Relations experience in salaried processes including, but not limited to compensation planning, personnel relations, performance management, employee coaching/counseling, employee engagement, employee development, organization development and workforce planning
- 2+ years of People Management experience
- Previous experience working with large, hourly employee populations in either a union or non-union environment
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Presence to successfully represent Ford Motor Company and interface with government agencies and other external organizations
- Demonstrated experience with delivering HR process improvement actions
- Ability to guide and influence all levels
- Demonstrated conflict management skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organization skills
- Ability to work closely and successfully with others to deliver results
- Depth and knowledge of labor relations practices, including but not limited to grievance administration, negotiations, union relations preferred
- Confident communication skills (written and verbal)

- Demonstrated ability to lead, empower and develop employees
- Previous manufacturing plant experience or experience with large hourly populations (logistics, hospitality, retail, etc.)

- Agile, self-starter with the ability to anticipate and manage change
