Job Summary
This is a twelve-month professional position that reports to the Manager of Educational Opportunity.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Helping to fulfill all activities and objectives of the project.
- Assist participants with college admissions/transfer and career counseling/coaching.
- Conduct workshops on four-year degree opportunities and career choices.
- Cultivate relationships with area universities and community resources.
- Communicate effectively with community leaders in the target area.
- Assist in the selection process of participants for the program.
- Foster a climate supportive of EOC eligible participants
- Assist with completing FAFSA’s and serving as a financial aid liaison for participants.
- Access FAA to submit FAFSA’s with unique situations.
- Possess the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Maintain a research bank and conducting research on transfer concerns.
- Cultivate relationships with area four-year schools.
- Assist in record keeping and reporting as required.
- Assist Manager of EOC programs in follow-up activities on former participants.
- Make recommendations for accommodations for all EOC project participants with learning, physical and emotional disabilities.
- Evaluate student needs through assessments and personal interviews.
- Assist with college activities such as being present at registration and Financial Aid Days
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education or related field preferred.
- Experience in assisting EOC participants served in becoming successful college students and future employees.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in advising or counseling in the following areas: career, transfer, and/or financial aid.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in higher education or relatable field.
- Experience working with non-traditional students, economically and academically disadvantaged students, and students with disabilities as defined by the US Department of Education.
- Good organizational skills with ability to pay attention to details.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and ability to import data into a database.
- Must be in good standing with personal federal student loans to have permission to access federal financial aid software

- Base pay for this 12-month position is $ $35,916
Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
