Member Position Summary: Wellness AmeriCorps Members will coordinate and support the group exercise program which offers in-person and virtual exercise classes (e.g. ZUMBA®, Yoga, Pilates, Circuit)to patients in our Wellness Centers, located in the Ossining and Port Chester health centers, and will support Wellness/Nutrition/WIC staff in the delivery of evidence-based programs that focus on promoting wellness, physical activity, and nutrition for patients of all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting program outreach and promoting class offerings
  • Recruiting and enrolling patients in wellness programs
  • Facilitating orientation for patients into the wellness program
  • Supporting wellness program instructors during classes
  • Preparing educational materials
  • Facilitating the Recess Rocks! program for children

Qualifications:

  • Fluent or advanced spoken Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent active listening and clear oral communication skills
  • Engaging, warm and caring personality
  • Passionate about providing high quality services to vulnerable populations
  • Culturally competent/sensitive (racial, ethnic, linguistic, LGBTQ+, physical ability, etc.) and committed to inclusive, multi-cultural programming
  • Proficient computer skills (including core Microsoft Office applications) and ability to learn new software programs
  • Able to function effectively as a member of a team
  • Able to understand and follow detailed instructions
  • Highly organized and self-directed, able to multi-task
  • Flexible and exhibits the ability to adapt as situations evolve

Commitment:

Benefits:

Healthy Futures Corps AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance that is equivalent to $15/hour, forbearance for most federally backed student loans, health insurance benefits, and if eligible, childcare benefits. After successfully completing the service term, each member is awarded a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, which can be used toward student loans or future education costs.
