Job Summary
The Vice President of Teen Programs & Partnerships is responsible for overseeing the Teen Department and associated programs and staff, to include planning, development, and implementation. This position also seeks funding opportunities to sustain, enhance and expand teen operations for the organization. In addition, this role supports leadership with long range strategy and mission development while staying current with trends in the program fields. This position reports to the President & CEO.
Responsibilities
Program & Operations
- Plan, implement and supervise teen and career development programs across all sites
- Create an environment that highlights the achievement of teens and promotes a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
- Supervise staff to execute teen programs as approved with respect to time, activities and cost.
- Organize, lead and affect consistent and timely progress towards the approved teen program goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership and manage developing teen programs, organizational and financial plans.
- Promote active and broad participation by community partners, volunteers and staff in all areas of teen programming while meeting enrollment goals.
- Maintain official records and documents, and help ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the program field.
- Contribute to the organization’s long-range strategy and mission.
Management & Supervision
- Lead in the recruitment, employment, training, scheduling, supervision and release of all teen program staff
- Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse and top quality staff.
- Manage and supervise teen and prevention services managers/directors.
- Conduct regular staff meetings on topics related to teen programming, career development and prevention services.
- Ensure that the BGCWPA leadership team is kept fully informed on teen program progress and all important factors influencing it.
- Publicize the goals, activities and outcomes of teen programming and initiatives with the support of the BGCWPA leadership team.
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations that support teen programming
- Represent Teen programming and the organization to agencies, organizations, youth, families and the general public.
- Work with Advancement to develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of the Department and organization.
- Provide support and guidance to Clubhouse level staff implementing teen programs.
- Ensure teen staff development and education activities take place and that program goals are achieved.
- Support development and coordination of educational and training workshops for teens and their families.
- Recommend and support Professional Development training for all teen staff in collaboration with the Training Coordination & Compliance Director.
- Oversee teen related special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other activities as necessary.
Strategy & Budgeting
- Develop annual work plan and budget to ensure continued excellence in teen programming and sustainable financial resources
- Lead the strategy and execution of all teen programs, funding approach, and budget materials
- Assist in securing financial resources to ensure budget needs are met and that reporting to grant sources is completed.
- Assists with writing grants to enhance program design, partner collaboration, scopes of work and associated budgets that will result in grant applications submitted, to sustain and expand mentorship work
- Assist in data tracking with the Advancement Team and evaluators for programs and services.
- Work with the President & CEO and Advancement to build, maintain, and expand relationships with external community groups, schools, law enforcement and others to support teen outreach, collaboration and partnership efforts.
- Assist in planning and implementation of a recruitment strategy that assures that we maximize the involvement of all teens, with the greatest need, in our teen development programs, to include developing pathways for teens that extend into adulthood.
Requirements
- At a minimum a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in youth development or related field with 10 years of experience in the field of child development. Masters Degree Preferred.
- Experience in grant management required.
- Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating projects involving teens.
- Curriculum development, testing, manualization, and dissemination experience.
- More broadly, must understand housing, health, wellness, education and economic development in urban communities and have some insight regarding steps needed to address issues.
- Experience developing and executing systems to hold staff accountable for the successful completion of tasks assigned.
- Should exhibit the ability to solve problems through innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage budgets and control expenses and create a positive environment for all youth
- Requires well-developed interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to project a positive image and communicate clearly, professionally and effectively through oral and written mediums with diverse groups of individuals
- Requires strong project management, math, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments from different sources while meeting deadlines
- Must demonstrate initiative, strong leadership skills, and the ability to provide guidance to staff and volunteers with a variety of educational and experiential backgrounds
- Working knowledge of Google Drive and Suite
- The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
- Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.
Certifications and Clearances
CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire or newer then 6 months. PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test must be submitted upon hire and before start date.
