Position: Tech - MLT
Practices the profession of clinical laboratory science in the area(s) of assigned responsibility according to accepted standards of practice as outlined by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), CLIA ’88, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and other regulatory agencies as appropriate, and according to the approved policies and procedures of the organization, department, and/or the laboratory Medical Director. Actively participates in the structure, review and revision of policies and procedures. Monitors quality control data and instrument maintenance. Participate in maintenance and safety programs. Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and performance improvement in areas of assign responsibility.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Tech - MLT assumes the responsibility for performing waived and non-waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes, and related procedures in the areas of assigned responsibility under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the department. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Services, but also the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Tech - MLT supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum Education: Associate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
2. Minimum Work Experience: One year experience preferred.
3. Certifications: ASCP, AMT, and/or NCA preferred or eligible
4. Technicians newly certified as of 2004, are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program to continue certification every 3 years. Failure to participate will invalidate certification after the initial 3-year certification period.
5. Mathematical, computer, reasoning and language skills at the college level required.
