Job Summary
The Chatham County Public Health Department is seeking a systems-thinking public health leader to serve as our Strategic Planning & Development Officer. This position reports directly to the Public Health Director but works closely with staff across the department, as well as the Board of Health. The Strategic Planning & Development Officer serves as a member of the Management Team and as an internal consultant and a resource for all staff. This position leads strategic planning for the department, working with cross-division teams and staff to advance internal and external priorities while centering equity throughout this work. The Strategic Planning & Development Officer also pursues opportunities to bring in new resources to advance this work through grant writing and strategic partnership. In addition, the Strategic Planning & Development Officer works closely with the Policy & QI Officer on the reaccreditation process, identifying ways to align reaccreditation benchmarks with the department’s overarching vision and strategy.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Facilitating, producing, and updating the department’s strategic plan
· Developing and adopting data management and tracking tools for assessing and reporting on progress towards plan goals and objectives
· Providing technical assistance to staff across the department on strategic planning with an equity lens, data tracking and reporting
· Assisting Public Health Director and Division Heads with researching, assessing, and developing evidence-informed policies and initiatives
· Serving as lead grant writer and manager for grant opportunities that advance the department’s strategic aims
· Serving as backup Agency Accreditation Coordinator (AAC)

Training and Experience
Master’s degree in public health or related field strongly preferred; or graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in public health or related field and 5-years’ experience in public health planning and evaluation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Local public health experience preferred.
Work schedule
· This position’s primary office will be at the Public Health Department’s Pittsboro site (80 East St), with additional time spent at the Siler City site (1000 S. 10thAve).
· Opportunity for some remote work.
Salary
Grade 66: $56,169 - $71,614
