Learning Together located in Montgomery, NY, is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher. The position is open for immediate employment.

Learning Together is a highly regarded preschool program serving children with and without special needs in an integrated preschool setting. Children 2.5 through 4.5 years old are taught by an early childhood Special Education Teacher with a team of 2 Teaching Assistants. Our play-based philosophy and sensory experiences provide students with exceptional classroom instruction. This particular position is for a four-year old integrated and UPK classroom.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate:

· Knowledge of special education instructional strategies

· Proficiency writing IEPs

· An understanding of special education processes including familiarity or experience with CPSE/CSE meetings

· Experience with the UPK program and related assessments

· An understanding of lesson plan development and play based instruction

· Progress monitoring for student’s annual IEP goals and benchmarks

· Effective communication both orally and in writing

· The ability to write professional reports including annual comprehensive progress reports on a tight deadline

· Willingness to collaborate with service providers

· Familiarity with developing and implementing behavioral and instructional strategies to support the academic, social and emotional development of students

· Collaboration with Teaching Assistants and other professional personnel

· Development of parent rapport through regular ongoing communication

· Excellent attendance, punctuality and organizational skills

· Experience with preschoolers within a classroom setting preferred
