WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are currently recruiting for a qualified Signalmen and/or Signal Apprentice.

The Apprenticeship is a two-year program that utilizes on-the-job and classroom instruction to teach signal maintenance knowledge and expertise. Principal duties are the safe and efficient completion of signal maintenance and construction projects across the Montana Rail Link system. Candidates who have a proven aptitude and/or education in an electronics field will be given preference.

Work locations are varied, and applicants must be willing to accept assignments at any MRL location. Job placement will be assigned according to seniority.


LOCATION: Headquarters in Livingston, MT

Pay Rate: $22.61 -$32.32 (Dependent on Signalman status)


KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Committed to working safely with the ability and desire to observe and promote safe work habits.
  • Ability to successfully complete (or have already completed) Signalman Training School, which includes extensive classroom training and testing
  • Extensive travel required – per diem is paid when working away from assigned headquarters
  • Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals
  • Must be safety conscious and committed to safe work practices that will contribute to the achievement of company safety goals
  • Applicant must exemplify MRL core values of safety, trust, accountability, respect, teamwork

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with electronic devices, operation of logic circuits and the ability to read and understand electronic schematics preferred
  • Proficient communication skills necessary to troubleshoot and maintain record of work performed
  • Self-motivated, yet able to work with close supervision during training
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Possess a CDL or can attain one within 90 days of employment
