Job Summary and Qualifications
Shift: PRN, night shift
A vascular access nurse is a Registered Nurse with expertise in the assessment and placement of vascular access devices. Our team serves as a vascular access resource for all areas of the hospital, assists physicians with central line insertions, performs a variety of focused procedures, and responds to emergency situations throughout the facility. We are always adding to our procedural skill set while creating new processes to keep our patients safe and provide them with exceptional care. Here is some of what you can expect from being a Registered Nurse with us:
- Perform and oversee care of patients with critical illness or injury utilizing the nursing process.
- Your role must possess strong assessment and clinical skills to oversee and care for patients with a multitude of disorders to include; Heart Failure, Respiratory distress, Sepsis, Multisystem Organ Failure, Neurosurgical Procedures, Invasive Cardiac Procedures, Trauma, MI, Strokes and other patients meeting ICU admissions criteria.
- You will excel at the following skills: interpersonal, communication, leadership, time management, critical thinking and decision making.
- As a specialized vascular access nurse, you will:
- Follow the evidence-based practice of the Infusion Nurses Society.
- Follow the nursing process for vascular access device planning and insertion including PICC lines, midlines, and ultrasound guided peripheral IVs.
- Evaluate and coordinate care with bedside staff of all central lines.
- Deliver competent, clinically appropriate placement of vascular access devices as ordered.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology of central line placement/peripheral vasculature, aseptic technique, ability to confirm placement, successful placement of devices, and knowledge of maintenance for devices.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing - BSN preferred
- Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse or current active multistate Registered Nurse license
- BLS & ACLS – Health Care provider
- RN experience in Endo, PACU or Critical Care preferred
