Restaurant Manager
(Full Time, Exempt)
$52,307 - $61,788 per year
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the General Manager, Head Golf Professional, or the Hospitality Manager, this position is responsible for the daily operations of the restaurant. Key responsibilities include hiring, training and managing multiple staff members, assisting in menu planning, budgeting and maintaining sanitation standards while striving to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for the overall operation of the restaurant including the front and back of the house operations. Oversee food and beverage operations/services including golf course beverage cart operations.
- Prepare and monitor budget, manage revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports. Negotiate concession contracts. Prepare purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Prepare short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue streams, etc. Develop and implement strategies to increase usage of assigned areas. Calculate program fees to meet cost-recovery goals. Formulate comprehensive business plans by researching and analyzing market information is essential.
- Develop menus; maximize sales opportunities through satellite sales, beverage carts, patio service, regular and creative promotions, and up selling revenue management.
- Develop, implement, and track results of all marketing strategies to ensure the utilization; notify the public of District events. Promote a positive image to the public. Participate in community planning and organizational meetings.
- Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and/or safety.
- Hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate assigned staff; provide or coordinate staff training; and work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Prepare, enforce, maintain and modify policies and procedures manuals; conduct periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answer questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally.
- Create staffing schedules according to guest need and managing labor costs. Provide on-site leadership at times of high guest use and expectation.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations governing the ordering, receiving, transport, storage of alcohol.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant and complies with Health Department and other governmental agency regulations. Ensures all state, local, and District health standards are met in food areas at all times and conducts monthly inspections.
- Maintain accurate records by ensuring food and liquor licenses are current and displayed and applied for in a timely manner.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through promotion of excellent service; respond to customer complaints promptly, tactfully and professionally in person, by email, phone and mail to provide helpful information and explanations in-line with District policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with District employees, vendors, and various outside user groups to coordinate their programs and special events.
- Other duties may also vary from supervisory to front-line duties depending on operational needs and business priorities and may expand outside of facility to assist other Departments within South Suburban Parks & Recreation District.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment by calling for repairs and training staff on proper use, using proper standard operating procedures to report and fix these issues.
- Conduct competitive research and report trends and recommendations.
- Support the entire Food & Beverage operation including supervising other areas if necessary, handling special projects, running promotions, handling public relations and marketing.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recreational and hospitality services as well as various athletic interests and markets to facilitate off-season utilization.
- This position is required to work varied work hours and holidays.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
- Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.

Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management or related field is strongly preferred.
- Three (3) years’ experience in a restaurant/catering environment including menu building and costing, preparing schedules, ordering and coordinating inventory.
- Three (3) year supervisory experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- Current Colorado Food Handler certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Current ServSafe and TIPS certifications or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Certified Food & Beverage Executive Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- May be required to become certified as a trainer for any and all department certifications or training.
- Culinary certification a plus.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment. May be required to drive District beverage and utility vehicles.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Health Department, Liquor Enforcement, and other governmental agency regulations with strong knowledge of: restaurant operations; food and beverage health standards; food preparation and production; customer service principles; planning and organization; and budget management.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the application of sanitation procedures and general cleaning equipment.
- Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors and interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
Material and Equipment Used:
Operate cash register, general office equipment (telephone, computer, credit-card machine, calculator, etc.) and proficiency with applicable computer and POS software applications. May be required to drive a District vehicle and/or a personal vehicle for business purposes.
Working Environment:
Primarily works in a busy restaurant, hotel, and event environment subject to heat and steam, continuous interruptions, and background noises. Will be working in a warm environment where temperatures can rise or fall quickly. Must be able to handle and prepare food and meat. Must follow Health Department guidelines (long hair in hairnet or tied back, closed toe shoes, etc.). Occasionally works outdoors, subject to variable weather conditions, ecosystems and landscape.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently bend, walk, kneel, stoop, reach and lift in performance of duties. Requires standing and walking 95% of workday. Considerable repetitive motion of hands, wrists, shoulders and back is required. Will be required to assist in lifting and moving tables and chairs to maximum of 50 pounds and ability to move up to 100 lbs. with wheeled assistance. Vision requirements include: near acuity, far acuity, depth perception and color vision. Requires sense of smell and touch. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed.
