JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of specialized duties such as preventative and therapeutic interventions, including oral prophylylaxis, scaling and root planning, and laser therapy. Performs application of topical, therapeutic and subgingival agents used for the control of caries and periodontal disease. Practices and implements effective infection control techniques. Provides educational services, nutritional counseling, training and screenings. Makes referrals to Dentist for comprehensive examination, diagnosis and treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current California License as a registered dental hygienist

2. Bachelors Degree or equivalent necessary to maintain licensure

3. Two years experience as a registered dental hygienist

4. Demonstrate knowledge of current dental health education subjects.

5. Ability to complete forms in an orderly and accurate fashion.

6. Ability to read, understand, write, and communicate effectively in the English language required.

7. Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish preferred.

8. Able to use sound judgment. Possess a calm disposition and the ability to work easily with people.

9. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends.

10. Willingness to participate in community events such as health fairs etc.

11. Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families and co-workers.

12. Must maintain active Allied Health privileges at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital

13. Ability to navigate Dentrix and/or other dental software, able to chart notes on computer in a timely manner.

14. BLS Certification required and maintained thereafter.
