This position will be located at our Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Shawnee County.

Compensation: $15.75 to $17.39/Hr. ($32,760.00 to $36,171.20/Annual)*
- Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications. Though this position is unclassified, pay is equivalent to classified Pay Grade 20, Steps 8-12.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Administers and tracks all recruitment processes, new employee orientation, benefits, FMLA, Workers compensation, position description, and performance evaluation processes, provides receptionist duties and supports (and backs-up) the HR Administrative Specialist (Payroll Specialist).
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Administers the recruitment for vacant positions including correctly posting positions to the State of Kansas website within the Kansas Juvenile Justice Complex, maintains, the position inventory and identifies positions as they become vacant; responsible for the calling out of requisitions, internal and external advertisements (when required); associates applicants with each job requisitions and enters disposition; evaluates qualifications of applicants to determine eligibility based on minimum qualifications.
- Enters applicants' data into the Recruitment panel of the Statewide Human Resource Payroll (SHaRP) system.
- Responsible for all promotional boards, assembling applicable material and forms pertinent to the interview process.
- Schedules interview board members, dates and times for interview, and notification of possible applicants of interview times.
- Creates interview questions and prepares Promotional Score Sheets when necessary, for promotional opportunities, types regret and congratulatory letters to candidates.
- Conducts pre-employment background checks of applicants prior to confirmed offer.
- Responsible for scheduling drug testing, pre-employment physicals of candidates, and scheduling applicants for TB testing prior to hire.
- Attends job fairs as needed.
- Processes reference, DCF, and PREA checks on all candidates as required.
- Responsible for issuing current Post Descriptions to all new hires and employees who are accepting promotions.
- Routes Position Description review at the time of evaluation, or when a vacancy occurs.
- Routes evaluation reminders at the time a resignation is received, or an employee promotes.
- Organizes material for contract employees and conducts orientation that relates to employment within the facility to the new employees, issues identification badge numbers, and collects fingerprints from employees.
- Assists with Orientation Training of new employees.
- Assists in the instruction of annual training classes on Human Resource policies and procedures, employee benefits, time and leave, etc., and the Employee Guidance Program.
- Maintains, prepares, and distributes monthly Tuberculosis (TB) testing notification to employees, contract staff, supervisors, and facility Clinic.
- Performs routine typing responsibilities for the department.
- Files correspondence, memorandums, and employee information.
- Issuing of Human Resources Information, insurance and payroll information.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of English usage, spelling, and written communication. Knowledge of departmental rules, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of the principles of office management and the ability to apply these principles to office operations. Knowledge of the principles and practices applied to the area of specialty assigned to the position. Ability to analyze, make recommendations for improvements and implement policies and procedures. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must pass a criminal history records check, DCF Child Abuse and Neglect check, PREA check, TB skin test, UA Drug Test.
