Position: Engineer I -(Assistant)
Location: Elkton, VA
Duration: 12 Months
Responsibilities:
· The candidate will perform downstream process development activities for a vaccine-related drug substance intermediate.
· The candidate will participate in/drive purification and chemical reaction assembly of proteins at lab and pilot scales.
· Common work includes designing and troubleshooting experiments, maintaining analytical systems, analyzing data, and presenting the findings to the team.
· The candidate will also have the opportunity to author technical documents and work with customers at manufacturing scale.
· The candidate will be part of a dynamic cross-functional team of scientists and engineers.
· Occasional shift work may be required including nights and weekends.
Quals-
· BS in Chemical, Biochemical, or Biomedical engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Chemistry.
· General lab experience
Preferred:
· Knowledge of tangential flow filtration processing – microfiltration/ultrafiltration
· Knowledge of protein purification
· Knowledge of column chromatography and AKTA/Unicorn systems
· Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
· Advanced degrees welcome
Comments/Special Instructions:
· On-site roles.
· Typical week- weekly 1:1 w/each worker and the manager.
· Weekly team meeting goes over high-level schedule, updates.
· Prepping for lab work (setting up electronic lab notebooks, procedures, analyze data).
· Helping/assisting with experiments/projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to $32.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

- Bachelor's (Required)
Experience:
- Chemical engineering: 2 years (Required)
