Program Director for Dental Assisting Job at MedQuest College
The Program Director manages the instructors and the educational activities of the department and all classes both day and evening. The Program Director will be responsible for the applicable accreditation commission standards or agencies regulations and the school Policy and Procedure department’s curricula as stated in the catalog. This position reports directly to the Director of Education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for recruiting, orienting and supervising faculty members for the department.
- Conduct an observation/evaluation at three-month intervals (at least four times a year) for each faculty member and confer as necessary.
- Provide classroom instruction for two to four classes.
- Ensure that student evaluations of faculty are completed at the end of each term and summaries submitted to each faculty member.
- Participates in the annual budget planning process for the program, including operating and capital expenditures. Manages the program budget. Maintains adequate equipment, materials, supplies inventory, text books, and other learning resources.
- Assure correct scheduling and registration of returning students each period.
- Assist with student orientations.
- Review the student record for satisfactory progress at the end of each grading term of each prospective graduate to determine eligibility for graduation.
- Ensure that a syllabus, in proper format, is prepared and used for each course offered by the applicable department.
- Assist with ongoing review and development of curricula in the department in accordance.
- Complete and submit assigned reports.
- Assist with textbook evaluations for each course taught in the department and make suggestions for changes.
- Assist the Director of Education with catalog review.
- Assure Department is in compliance with school catalog.
- Conduct and document regular department meetings.
- Participate in school and/or Academic Affairs meetings as required.
- Substitute Teach as needed.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings.
- Participate in self-studies for various accrediting agencies.
- Revise and update master syllabus for each course in the department ton a continuing basis.
- Assist in maintaining department equipment in proper working order.
- Coordinate with the Career Services Director all information pertaining to the externship placement of students, job openings, potential candidates, and any placement updates.
- Participate as directed by the Director of Education in the supervision of externs, clinical sites, etc.
- Advise students regarding academic progress in the department from enrollment to graduation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Campus Director or Director of Education.
Position Requirements
- Holds a current dental assistant registration or certification through a nationally recognized and accredited certifying (RDA or CDA) agency, or is a licensed dentist, and is proficient in four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry principle.
- Has five years’ experience in the field.
- Has supervisory experience.
- Is sufficiently free from service and other non-educational duties to fulfill the educational and administrative requirements of the program.
The responsibilities of the program supervisor include participation in:
(a) Curriculum development and coordination
(b) Selection and recommendation of individuals for faculty appointment and promotion
(c) Supervision and evaluation of faculty
(d) Determining faculty teaching assignments
(e) Scheduling use of program facilities
(f) Selection of extramural facilities and coordination of instruction in the facilities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $51,000.00 per year
