Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to perform various production control activities including gathering and filing records, reporting on the use of materials, monitoring customer orders, posting production schedules, and calculating production rates.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers’ needs.
  • Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns, or graphic displays.
  • Revise programs to eliminate errors, and retest programs to check that programs have been resolved.
  • Write manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures.
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions and tool selection.
  • Create cut plans and optimizations in the stored programs on file servers or external data storage devices.
  • May assist Production Control Manager or other Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed.

  • Drafting, Laying Out and Specifying Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment: Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Safety and Security; Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.
  • Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
  • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, and uses
  • Handling and Moving Objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating materials.
  • Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events: Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Interacting with Computers: Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, or process information.

Qualifications

  • This position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2-5 years of previous experience in the field or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree is preferred but not required.

Preferences

  • Training in math, science, computer technology, and a solid background in computer-aided drafting and design techniques.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to read blueprints is a plus.

The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position, move about the buildings and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and use eye-hand coordination.
