Short Hills Surgery Center, located in Millburn, N.J. is seeking a Perioperative Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech to join our exceptional healthcare team. SHSC is a fast-paced, AAAHC-Certified state of the art facility. Our multi-specialty same-day surgery center has all the accreditations of a traditional hospital, but we set a higher standard for physician and nursing care. The result: our high patient satisfaction scores and low infection rates. Our 25,000-square-foot facility features six major operating rooms, two minor surgery rooms, and 24 recovery beds, including four private rooms, all within an upscale, comfortable atmosphere.

Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred. Hours of operation are 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday – Friday.

Essential functions include:

• Answers telephones, ensuring proper etiquette by displaying promptness, courtesy, and helpfulness
• Escorts patients and family members throughout the center as requested by RN
• Serve as liaison between Pre-Op Area, Physician Office, Waiting Area, Anesthesia Department, OR and PACU
• Labels charts quickly and efficiently
• Completes pre-op logs, documents patient in/out times, and completes MD log for physician arrival
• Enters information in data management software accurately, and ensure that all charts are completed by the end of the work shift
• Ensures that chart check lists are completed for each chart, and that all contents of chart are present and in the correct order at the end of the work shift
• Clean and prepare stretchers and chairs for patient use
• Assist with stocking of linens and scrubs, as well as emptying of soiled linens
• Completes daily logs of blanket warming machine
• Monitors food/freezer logs
• Completes monthly logs
• Cleans lockers, warmers, under sink, and other areas as needed
• Assist with stocking of snacks
• Disinfect as needed; counters, desks, telephones, etc.

Qualifications: Must be a licensed Medial Assistant or a Certified Patient Care Technologist with a high school graduate or equivalent.
