After school care center in Irmo, SC is seeking a qualified individual who will assist in the successful operation of the its After School Care Program.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the health, safety and well being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
• Supervise, participate in, and administer recreational activities for children.
• Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the after school program.
• Plan activities and events that are exciting, challenging and values based.
• Work cooperatively and professional with staff and counselors.
• Serve prepared snacks and lunch to students.
• Create and maintain daily program activities, attendance.
• Assist children with homework and help guide students in their academic growth.
• Communicate with families, as needed, about their children’s strengths and areas needing attention.
• Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
• Drive a 15 passenger activity bus to area Lexington/Richland 5 Schools to pick up children for after school care. CDL Not Needed (Required)
• Perform light cleaning duties daily.

Qualifications:

• Must be 20 years old or older
• High School diploma; college credits in Education, Physical Education and/or Sociology preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with children and planning activities in a group setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. (If hired, certification training will be available)
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a very reliable form of transportation for reporting to work.
• You will be required to have a comprehensive criminal background check, which includes a fingerprint-based criminal record check, Federal/State Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check, a State Sex Offender Registry check and the NCIC for National Sex Offender check.
• Dependability and the ability to work flexible hours.
• Must have a neat appearance, be dependable and on time.

Primary work hours will be from 2 pm to 6 pm Monday - Friday, but must have flexibility to work a different shift if needed, between the hours of 7:20 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Friday on school closing days (normally once per month) and early release pickup days at 11:30 am (once per month).

Pre-employment on the job assessment will be required, for candidates considered for employment.

All visitors are required to wear a mask. Curbside pickup and drop off available. To keep our staff as safe as possible, we have added employee health pre-screenings prior to starting work and provide masks, gloves, and sanitizing stations.
