An Operations Assistant is responsible for creating the most efficient route path for the most timely and safe execution for the Madison Terminal. Responsibilities include maintaining routes, processing changes/updates to the routes, comply with Federal and State DOT requirements, organize paperwork and filing, maintain records and logs, payroll preparation and utilize routing system for operational purposes. Carries out working plans and systems for school bus, charters, and other requested transportation that contributes to safe, on-time and consistent service to school districts, businesses and the general public.
Position Description
This position offers flexible hours throughout the week, as our operations runs 7 days per week. This is an opportunity to have a vital role in our operation. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing dispatch functions for multiple business units and multiple vehicle types, acting as a liaison between sales, customers, and drivers, working with drivers to confirm routing and times. Additionally, this role is responsible for processing changes/updates to trips, complying with Federal and State DOT requirements, organizing paperwork and filing, and utilizing dispatch systems for operational purposes.
Ability to work effectively and well with diverse groups of people, teamwork.- Strong organizational and communication skills, written and verbal, are preferred.
- Possess strong working knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software programs.
- Prior experience in a dispatching and customer service role preferred.
- Dispatchers must successfully pass a company sponsored pre-employment drug test and background check.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational and communication skills, written and verbal. Detail oriented including documentation skills.
- Able to work effectively and well with diverse groups of people, teamwork.
- A strong working knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software programs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in the transportation industry.
- Customer Service experience
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel.
