The Medical Records Associate will work with our internal Operations Team to support the audit process. This position coordinates with the Audit Correspondence team and the Scheduling team to perform data entry. You will be matching medical records to the corresponding claims in our internal database and then entering those records into the system making them accessible to our team of auditors for review. You must be willing to perform a repetitive task and have good computer and keyboard skills. Strong attention to detail is a must. This position is a key part of our process and will require building strong and collegial relationships with our internal teams.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm local time zone. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Download medical records, appeals and signoffs from fax inboxes, portals, secure emails, copy services and FTPs
  • Match records to the corresponding claim in our internal database, and enter the record into the system for our team of auditors to access and review
  • Learn to utilize ChartPoint, our internal suite of office applications
  • Understand the lifecyle of a claim as it moves through the business
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by manager
  • Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks
  • Prioritizes and organizes own work to meet agreed upon deadlines
  • Works with others as part of a team
  • Consistently meet established productivity, schedule adherence and quality standards

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word (create/edit documents), Microsoft Outlook (send/receive emails)
  • Previous processing claims experience
  • Experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
