Mechanical Engineer - Hypersonics Job at PERIKIN ENTERPRISES LLC
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Perikin Enterprises is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer for a position in our Advanced Engineering Division in Tullahoma, TN. Perikin is headquartered in Albuquerque, NM, and provides management, engineering, and environmental services and executes construction projects for the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DoE), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other organizations. This position is in support of Perikin's mission to provide engineering services; program, project, financial, and information management; and administrative support to Government programs, such as the Test Resource Management Center's (TRMC) High Speed Systems Test (HSST) program and Hypersonic Test & Evaluation Investment Program (HyTIP) Program Management Office (PMO) located at AEDC. The HSST program develops new technologies to improve high speed and hypersonic systems' test and evaluation (T&E). HyTIP executes projects to advance and integrate those technologies into the DoD's Major Range and Test Facility Bases (MRTFB).
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Assist with the mechanical design of new ground and/or flight test components for hypersonic system development.
Support the development of new ground test technologies and test techniques.
Support the planning, requirements development, procurement, installation, and demonstration phases of test facility developments.
Provide technical support to integrated product teams (IPTs) during the development of hypersonic T&E technologies.
Provide oversight to multiple development support contractors during all work and test operations phases.
Assist in generating cost estimations for facility systems.
Oversee the preparation of operational work instructions, system safety hazard analysis, and maintenance requirements for facility operations.
Support field installation and test activities as required.
Work closely with project management on execution plans, schedules, installation status briefings, and conflict identification and resolution.
Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate related discipline
0-3 years experience in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate related discipline
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Expertise with AutoCAD or similar drawing software is highly desired.
Working knowledge of CFD tools such as Ansys Fluent is highly desired.
Familiarity with mechanical system drawings, P&IDs, CM tools, maintenance training, and interface control documents.
Understanding and experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics, compressible flow, and fluid dynamics are desired.
An unwavering attention to detail, exemplary work ethic, and grace under pressure.
The ability to build positive relationships with coworkers, customers, and executing organizations.
Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellence in oral communication, technical writing, and presentation preparation.
A current Secret security clearance or eligibility for Secret clearance.
