Manufacturing Engineer Job at ATCO Products
ATCO Products is an IATF16949/ISO9001 Certified tubing/hose assembly manufacturer of high-quality automotive and heavy-duty truck components and assemblies. Both original equipment suppliers and aftermarket customers have relied on ATCO Products to meet their OE production components and in/out of warranty service and parts requirements for more than 50 years.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Manufacturing Engineer you will Initiate improvements to current manufacturing methods by utilizing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques, as well as perform various design/drafting activities such as creating and updating ATCO’s product drawings, fixtures, tooling, and gages.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in new product introduction activities, providing feedback based on current manufacturing methods and improvements.
- Creates conceptual designs for fixtures, gages, etc., and makes appropriate changes in manufacturing drawings using 3D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks).
- Participates in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities to ensure successful product launch.
- Initiates improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes.
- Interacts with customers to provide input on product designs based on plant capability.
- Recommends plant equipment acquisitions (upgrades or replacement) using process information to validate savings, corrections and ROI.
- Develop procedures and work instructions to establish consistent, high-quality manufacturing processes.
- Works in a planned and organized manner on all assignments, activities, and projects.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline BSME, BSIE, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing process and machinery.
- Previous experience using risk management tools such as PFMEAs or other means.
- Experience with Kaizen and other methods for process improvements.
- Previous experience using SolidWorks or other similar CAD design software.
- Must have good communication skills and comfortable working within a team of engineers and production personnel
- Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing work situations
- Lean management skills
- Familiarity with mechanical processes in a manufacturing environment, including industrial equipment.
- Strong organization and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
