• Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri
• Any specific skills or requirements you want in a candidate: Minimum HS Diploma
•Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? - Yes, Will be using a PAPR: OSHA respirator medical evaluation, the respirator fit test, and the cholinesterase screening are required
Additional Notes:-
- Crop Protection & Design Group
- Groups of 3-4 working in pairs & independently
- 18yrs. old minimum & HS Diploma required
- Biology focus, not Chemistry
- MUST be comfortable with live insects
- Testing unknown compounds on plants then add the insect to see if compound will control them
- Routine Assay work
- Confident, makes decisions, willing to learn,
- 99% lab work, only in greenhouse at most 20 mins retrieving carts
- Must have work experience. Science background preferred as well as lab experience preferred.
Wanted:- individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly-detailed work. Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary throughout the day between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies. Strong culture of safety requires individuals to adhere to all safety and ergonomic standards. Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided.
Basic tasks may include:-
- Clipping/thinning plants used in testing.
- Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various insect species.
- Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes.
- Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers.
- Laboratory maintenance (cleaning, restocking, etc.).
- Grading insect assays.
- Preparation of media used in nematode testing.
Requirements:
-Self-driven individual that also works well in a diverse group setting.
- Willing to work independently and with a team as needed. Self initiated and desire to
learn.
-Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands.
-Must have work experience*** Does not need to be related to lab work, but must have had any job previously.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
