THOR Solutions is actively seeking an IT/Software Technician to support Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU-4) in Norfolk, VA and the Ship to Shore Connector platform. This position will provide support responding to hardware problems, updating system software and tracking the data and communications used on the network of the craft. They will be in charge of managing and troubleshooting the technology systems for the Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Navigation (C4N) suite.

The candidate’s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

• Offer technical support to supporting staff and troubleshoot computer problems.
• Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of C4N systems.
• Implement security measures.
• Monitor security certificates and support compliance of requirements.
• Install and update system software and hardware as needed.
• Troubleshoot chassis issues, assess and service single board CPUs, re-flash images, restore parameter files, and push patches.
• Record and report the instances of maintenance replacing or updating C4N items.
• Assist with revision and update of technical documentation.
• Provide on-site support at ASSAULT CRAFT UNIT FOUR.

Security Clearance Requirements:

• This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will already possess an active or interim Secret (or above) clearance.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical school diploma/vocational certificate in a relevant discipline.
• At least five (5) years of recent, relevant, progressively responsible experience in the IT or Software fields.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Windows 10, and Network Appliances.
• Familiar with the system backup and restoration methodologies.
• Experience with one or more areas of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Navigation (C4N) systems.
• Understanding of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
• Experience redlining or editing technical documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Good organization, time management and prioritization.
• Efficient troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing and active listening.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• At least nine (9) years of recent, relevant experience working hands on servicing IT equipment and Software needs of a platform or organization, preferably within the United States Department of Defense.
• Working knowledge of Red Hat RHEL 6/8.
• Familiar with SSH, SCP, WSL, Clonezilla, VI editor, Bash scripting.
• Experience with Java software and programming is a bonus.
• Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures/Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot Navy control systems.
• Navy C4N system experience.
