Engineer- HVAC

Position Summary: The HVAC Engineer position involves all aspects of the heat exchanger process- from initial customer interaction, design and selections, bid and proposal generation, detailed design drawings, overseeing production and product development during manufacturing, testing and shipping of products and customer follow-up after installation and commissioning. The HVAC Engineer will be responsible for ACT’s HVAC heat exchanger product line, including new product development activities, product development and production orders, quotation efficiency and supplier development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Evaluate HVAC heat exchanger leads from customers and sales representatives for applicability and selection of the right product for the application.
• Maintain and improve HVAC heat exchanger quoting aids (spreadsheet calculators)
• Support Sales & Marketing with potential customer calls
• Conduct mechanical and thermal design and analyses per customer specifications.
• Generate drawings per customer requirements.
• Work with supplier base to manufacture required components. Generate and approve supplier purchase orders.
• Document work plans, processes, and progress
• Communicate progress with customer.
• Assist and provide supervision to technicians in all aspects of fabrication and testing to assure product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Evaluate and report test results.
• Monitor project costs to assure budget is not exceeded.
• Assist marketing personnel in evaluating potential market opportunities.
• Write articles, blogs, etc. to generate marketing leads

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.S., M.S., or PhD degree in Engineering or relevant science
• Previous experience in HVAC industry preferred
• HVAC Design Selection experience preferred
• Prior experience in using modern design and analyses software such as SolidWorks (CAD)
• Prior experience in using computational data acquisition systems, such as LabView.
• Prior experience in designing and conducting mechanical/thermal experiments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills essential.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be authorized to work in the US. US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Individual (as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) preferred due to ITAR responsibilities.

OTHER DEMANDS

• Travel to support Sales & Marketing customer visits and to commission/ troubleshoot installed products as required.
