Roles and Responsibilities:
FAIR Girls provides intervention and holistic care to female survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children. Through prevention education and policy advocacy, FAIR Girls also works to eradicate human trafficking and reduce systematic barriers to survivors’ healing and empowerment. The Residential Care Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Housing Manager. The Residential Care Coordinator is responsible for the daily operational success of the FAIR Girls Vida Home Program for young adult female survivors of human trafficking residing in the Vida Home (“Residents”). The Residential Care Coordinator will supervise, counsel, and mentor up to 5 young adult survivors staying in the home at any point in time. The Residential Care Coordinator ensures all Vida Home policies and protocols are followed and that the home remains well maintained, secured, and stocked with necessary food and other supplies and equipment. The Residential Care Coordinator works within a team of three Residential Care Coordinators and the Housing Manager, and is responsible for collaborating effectively with other FAIR Girls direct service providers including Case Management Coordinators, the Direct Services Manager, and the Director of Programs. Effective communication and collaboration amongst these service providers is a key element of consistent, quality care provision, and an expectation of the Residential Care Coordinator.
The Residential Care Coordinator will work day or evening shift 7:00am-3:00am or 3:00-11:00pm. The Residential Care Coordinator will also be expected to complete 6 hours of administrative tasks (i.e. data and time entry, team meetings, assisting with purchasing, etc.) during the week.
FAIR Girls is about Social-Emotional Engagement
Residential Engagement (60%)
- Mediate any conflicts that may arise amongst residents
- Supervise or facilitate cooking and other evening activities with residents
- Coordinate cleaning schedule with residents and ensure all cleaning tasks are completed daily
- Ensure all safety protocols, procedures and resident agreements are upheld
- Provide supportive counseling and mentorship to each resident
- Provide crisis counseling or intervention as needed for residents in distress
- Facilitate fun, self esteem building, and recreational group activities
- Maintain accurate case notes and other related documentation as required
Program Implementation (10%)
- Promote self-care practices, disseminate information, assist with program objectives, and communicate program policies to Vida Home residents as needed
- Manage program supplies, including grocery, janitorial, and hygiene needs, including keeping weekly inventory of grocery items and donations
- Notify FAIR Girls on-call staff of any crisis or unexpected events at the Vida Home and write follow-up incident report to FAIR Girls staff as required
Vida Home Maintenance (20%)
- Budget for groceries and other necessary household supplies with residents and go on shopping outings or order online to purchase these items with them.
- Maintain list of necessary supplies needed
- Solicit and maintain inventory of donated necessary household items, including but not limited to: clothes, toiletries and cleaning supplies, as well as donated movie tickets or tickets to other fun activities for Survivor Residents
- Notify the FAIR Girls Housing Manager of any maintenance needs
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years minimum of experience in home health care; public health; counseling or youth development.
- Experience in and passion for working with survivors of trauma, especially gender-based violence including but not limited to: sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking.
- Strong work ethic, positive energy and attitude, empathetic outlook, excellent written and verbal communication, crisis management skills and flexibility.
- Experience working as an EMT or residential counselor at domestic violence or homeless youth shelters preferred.
- 3 professional references required
- Reliable transportation required (NE DC)
