Facilities Maintenance Technician is a skilled position that is part of the Shared Services team. The incumbent contributes to CHAT’s operations and facilities efforts which lays a foundation for greater missional impact. The Facilities Technician is responsible for general facilities upkeep primarily at the Carlisle Avenue Baptist location. The Facilities Maintenance Technician reports to the Director of Operations and supervises no staff.


Essential Duties

  • Performs basic manual work associated with minor building repairs to maintain facilities as a handyman and assistant to the Director of Operations
  • Maintains exterior presentation of the building
  • Monitors HVAC controls & assesses HVAC system problems
  • Assists the Director of Operations with scanning the building for unmet custodial needs and identification of potential special housekeeping projects
  • Removes and properly manages all waste and recyclable materials, exterior and interior
  • Assists with fleet maintenance, repairs, & inspections
  • Monitors maintenance supplies (inventory, requisitions, removal, and delivery
  • Drives a Minibus (14-passenger) and/or Van (12-passenger)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications: Any combination of stated education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or training that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties is acceptable

Required Qualifications

  • Faith in Jesus Christ, affirming the Apostles’ Creed and lived out in a faith community
  • Knowledge and experience of current general facilities maintenance practices (may be gained through employment, internships, or volunteer roles)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and the CHAT staff
  • Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed high school diploma, GED or equivalent supplemented by specialized training in the building trades or a related field
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Understand principles of carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, janitorial, painting and electrical work

Position Overview & Compensation

  • Part Time, non-exempt
  • Anticipated range of compensation: $15 per hour to $20 per hour, negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience
  • Work Schedule: 20 to 25 hours per week, scheduled flexible and determined with manager
    • Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM through 12:30 PM
