Bartlett is building a new soybean crush plant in southeast Kansas, and we are looking for an experienced manager to run the soy/protein extraction department. We need an entrepreneurial minded individual to help lead, mentor, train and inspire the team to work safely, efficiently and with purpose.

The primary duties will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the soy/protein extraction department

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee the use of the latest Crown extraction and preparation equipment
• Employ extensive process automation throughout the operation
• Work closely with compliance personnel to ensure continuous audit readiness in a PSM and Food Safety plant
• Actively work to ensure that all Bartlett Team Members, visitors, vendors and contractors understand and align with the Bartlett safety policies and procedures
• Utilize assets efficiently to meet production and quality goals
• Lead department in established policies, procedures, and plant priorities
• Provide mentorship to operators and engineers to achieve short-term and long-term department performance goals through use of KPI’s and continuous improvement
• Embrace an owner’s mentality by managing costs and continuously focusing on efficiency improvement
• Ensure training and development of all department employees

Education/Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or similar
• 5+ years in a production environment in soy extraction, food processing or similar industry

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Excellent leadership ability including a vision for strategic direction, willingness to delegate and leading others in work execution
• Demonstrated scale-up experience and/or new technology development experience in a production environment is a plus
• Knowledge of multiple processes and unit operations in a full-scale production plant
• Knowledge of PSM and Food Safety Standards is vital

Physical Requirements:

• This job can be physically strenuous

• You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
• This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs
• You will be required to wear PPE which will include respirators in certain areas
• Will be exposed to the weather, including extreme heat and/or cold, wind, rain, snow, and other adverse weather conditions
• Must be able to walk for extended periods of time over uneven surfaces
• Will be exposed to various site hazards, including but not limited to loud noises and flashing lights, dust and fumes, hazardous materials, heavy equipment and machinery, and other situations specific to the work and location

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
