EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AT TEMPLE BETH DAVID

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly organized and skilled full-time Executive Director/Director of Operations professional to collaborate with our rabbi, professional and office staff, and lay leadership, and help our community continue to grow. This person will be a key member of the leadership team in overseeing the operations, facility, programming coordination, and communications within our temple community.
ABOUT TEMPLE BETH DAVID
Temple Beth David, founded in 1960, is a growing Reform congregation of approximately 260 families in Westwood, MA. We seek to engage our members in meaningful Jewish expression and community. Our diverse membership draws from the surrounding areas.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administration and office management: Responsible for day-to-day operation of the temple, including hiring and supervising administrative staff, facilities personnel, vendors and contractors.
- Communications: Develop communications strategy and lead congregational communications, collaborate with staff on messaging.
- Programs and calendar: Manage the temple calendar and program logistics. Oversee systems for scheduling and attending programs and events with staff and volunteers.
- Membership and engagement: Be a primary point of contact with the public and congregational members. Supervise administrative staff to maintain membership and other databases and process registrations. Support a vibrant religious school and new early learning center.
- Worship and lifecycle support: Provide administrative and logistical support for weekly Shabbat services, holidays, and lifecycle for members (b’nai mitzvah, funerals, etc.)
- Facility management: Oversee the management of the facility to meet the needs of worship, programs, religious school and our early learning center. Serve as liaison to members using synagogue facilities and manage facility rentals. Develop, implement and monitor a program of preventive periodic inspection and maintenance. Identify technology support.
- Finance: Establish temple budgets and manage income and expenditures in conjunction with the Treasurer and bookkeeper. Support fundraising efforts.
- Safety and Security: Assess and implement security and emergency management systems in coordination with lay leadership.

NEED TO HAVE
- Bachelors from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow-up, set priorities, manage time efficiently and be flexible.
- Ability to oversee and collaborate with staff, work with clergy and volunteer lay leadership, and establish and maintain effective relationships with temple members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, ShulCloud (synagogue management software), and video conference software.
NICE TO HAVE
- Previous synagogue and/or nonprofit management and HR experience.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of temple administration, including temple organizational structures and budget.
- Familiarity with Jewish customs and calendar.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary: Commensurate with experience. Salary range of $75,000-$100,000.

- Flexible work hours. Mainly weekday; some evenings and weekends required.
