How will you make an impact?
The Director, Product Management- Software will own the IVD and RUO Software portfolio and roadmap for the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division (CSD) within the Genetic Sciences Group (GSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This person will help define the overarching IVD Software strategy and go-to-market plan for integration of NGS data into hospital electronic health records in collaboration with the broader executive leadership team. This includes defining the product roadmap, market access strategy, and informatics strategy. This individual will lead a team focused on developing and managing the complete portfolio of IVD and RUO NGS Software including Genexus Dx Software, Torrent Suite Software, Ion Reporter and Oncomine Reporter.
What will you do?
- Manage and lead the Software Product Management and Software Support teams and drive market readiness in delivering new and existing products for the global market
- Work Collaboratively to build software for critical application drivers in the CSD Oncology business.
- Lead development of Software UI/UX for Oncology applications requiring advanced data analytic tool sets
- Lead Software Pipeline Conceptualization and be responsible for development of Cloud Reporting for NGS workflows
- Work collaboratively with CSD commercial team (sales and market development) to drive commercial strategy and growth for the business. This includes defining and developing software engagement strategy with key opinion leaders
- Lead and leverage analyses of business and market trends to define customer requirements, competitive strategy, and business opportunities for increasing customer and business value
- Lead the overall portfolio roadmap and lifecycle for new Software development
- Lead teams through new product development processes from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition, lead product launches and sales training to achieve timely launches and commercial objectives
- Provide thought leadership to overall CSD Software product strategy and direction. Collaborate with CSD leadership to successfully commercialize new products, enter new markets, and achieve share and profitability goals by product category and market segments
- Lead and represent CSD business from a product management perspective in critical customer and precision medicine efforts to drive commercial success and key account efforts
- Effectively represents Product Management and key internal leadership meetings, communicating with colleagues, global leadership team and senior management on progress against objectives and future plans for driving performance

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree, or higher preferred
- 10+ years of direct NGS software product management or marketing experience in the diagnostics, genomics, or medical devices industry; Next generation sequencing experience required
- In-depth NGS Software market experience, with familiarity of both the diagnostics and research industry
- Demonstrated effectiveness in marketing, product management or strategy role including participating in market analysis, planning and new product development required
- Team management experience to delegate and empower teams to achieve success by setting team objectives, guidelines, and removing obstacles
- A cross-functional leader that understands collaboration is key to success. The ability to see new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive objectives and develop strong working relationships will be required for success
- Excellent analytical abilities, project management, and planning skills necessary; prior consulting background or experience is a bonus
- Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation abilities with demonstrated experience presenting and influencing executive leadership
- An entrepreneurial drive to reach success - a high degree of self-motivation, with the desire to build a new business, especially the ability to pull cross-functional teams together to achieve commercial success
- Excellent planning and organization abilities with attention to detail; capable of setting the example for team members to deliver high quality work
- Ability to travel up to 25% including international
The salary range estimated for this position is $185,000 - $235,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
