The University of Chattanooga Foundation seeks to fill the position of Director of Development for the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. This position will report to the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor of Development.

The Director will build relationships to generate financial support for the College of Engineering and Computer Science through the discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors. The Director will coordinate closely with the Dean and faculty members to broaden the prospect base and address the key fundraising priorities of the university and college. Responsibilities include:

  • Direct, develop, and conduct major gift fundraising efforts for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Collaborate with the dean, faculty members, department heads and volunteers to build their participation in fundraising. Prepare customized presentations, proposals, and prospect briefings.
  • The Director will manage and steward 100-150 major prospects, with minimum annual expectations of 130 donor visits, 20 proposals, and $1,000,000 raised after an introductory period.
  • The Director will participate in campus-wide fundraising efforts as determined by Advancement Leadership. Coordinate annual giving strategies and leadership annual giving solicitations with UTC annual giving director including Faculty and Staff Campaign efforts for the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Manage or assist in college focused special events for fundraising and stewardship purposes, including management of deans’ advisory groups, etc.
  • Other professional duties as needed to assure the efficiency and effectiveness of development operations as assigned by the Vice Chancellor, Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, or Dean.

UTC’s College of Engineering and Computer Science enrolls over 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students in 14 disciplinary specific undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD degree programs across five departments: Civil and Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management and Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree with five or a master’s degree with three years of experience in fundraising, development, marketing, or sales related field is required. The ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally is required. Experience with higher education fundraising or nonprofit fundraising is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UC Foundation reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality of donor and prospect information.

Job Skills

Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication, and demonstrated organizational skills necessary. In addition, the position requires the ability to work independently, build relationships, and solicit gifts.
