LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH/Carroll County Health Department, Cigarette Restitution Fund Program, Westminster, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position will support tobacco prevention and cessation efforts in Carroll County. This position will develop and evaluate programs and policies in order to ensure effective tobacco prevention and cessation activities in the Carroll County community. Therefore, this position will be expected to communicate effectively with Carroll County Health Department staff members, as well as with physicians; members of the public; members of the school community; and, all other federal, State, and local agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience: None.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field, plus one year of professional experience in health services, for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience presenting topics related to tobacco use prevention to audiences of all ages. The desired candidate should also have experience with school and/or community health education, along with experience developing and implementing tobacco prevention and cessation programs. Finally, the desired candidate should have experience tracking and maintaining data to complete the reporting of a specific program.
