Summary:

As a Controls Engineer you will develop and execute process control system integration and information-solutions projects. You will perform design, development, and deployment and testing of electrical equipment, control systems (PLCs), and information solutions (Historians, MES). You will assist with quoting projects, writing specifications, test protocols, and drawing updates. You will manage portions of projects as assigned by adhering to budgets to complete tasks assigned and will occasionally manage small size projects.

This position is in the Portland, Oregon area to support local clients and reports to the Regional Manager.

Technical Development:

  • Manages portions of projects, sometimes completely manages small size projects
  • Performs complex design, development and testing of automation and information solutions
  • Conducts the installation, commissioning, and operation of Rockwell Automation PLC, Drives, and other electrical components.
  • Handles what is a "significant portion of a project" from conception to delivery
  • Can expect technical guidance to be available to review work and programs and advise on unusual features of assignments
  • Handles different stages of the Project Execution Methodology (PEM) process
  • May give technical guidance to other engineers assigned to work on a common project and may mentor and guide other engineers in areas of expertise
  • Some of the technical time is spent as a builder and some as an Architect

-Builder - builds and programs the actual system components and follows applicable standards
-Architect - designs a framework to meet the client needs and applies appropriate standards

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive experience configuring/troubleshooting/commissioning Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley hardware and software consisting of PLCs, IO families, Networking Devices, HMI, Drives, MCCs, and FactoryTalk Platform
  • Experience configuring/troubleshooting/commissioning electrical panels, control loops, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Microsoft Server configuration and administration experience
  • Experience with various other vendor historians, SCADAs, PLCs, and motors/drives is a plus
  • Regulated industry experience – preferably GAMP and common pharmaceutical/Life-Sciences validation practices preferred
  • Experience in consulting and/or system integration is a plus
  • Experience with technical management of projects and execution
  • Self-motivated

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1+ years of engineering experience in process controls/automation and or systems integration
  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline or other related field or equivalent work experience and training
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability and willingness to travel 30% to be onsite at a customer facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
