Job Description
A Construction Safety Manager is responsible for completing the following duties:
- Maintain the safety program and coordinate training efforts
- Comply with OSHA and MSHA regulations
- Provide support and training for internal & external job site personnel
- Maintain and initiate an accident investigation program to prevent the recurrence of incidents and to ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across all job sites. Revise procedures as appropriate
- Conduct (or coordinate) on-site reviews and audits of operations for assigned job sites to reduce health and safety-related concerns
- Direct implementation of strategies to effectively resolve Health and Safety issues
- Create and maintain a culture reflective of a commitment to an illness and injury-free workplace
- Stay familiar with current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position in accordance with state and federal laws
- Oversee safety training programs (MSHA & OSHA)
- Conduct employee safety training on relevant MSHA & OSHA topics
- Training and development needs of all staff are being met
- Compliance with environmental laws is maintained
- Safety documentation and annual training are kept current
- Organization of daily and weekly safety documents
- Entry of near miss/care to share/incident reports
- 90% travel required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of relevant safety and environmental laws
- Relevant education and/or experience
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficient with MS Office and other Windows-based software
- Significant experience in Safety/EH in a construction environment
- Prefer applicable degree
