LEGO Construction Co is looking for an Estimator / Superintendent. Candidates should have a minimal of Masters degree required in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. It is a full-time position with benefits.

We are looking for a graduate or undergraduate student to work in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach areas.

Estimator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction project from start to completion to ensure client projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.

LEGO is looking for goal-oriented Estimator/superintendent with a sense of direction, diligent, professional, leadership skills and ability to guide a team of professionals toward a common goal. Positive disposition and team-oriented attitude.

LEGO Construction is a general contractor specialized in healthcare, education, and military projects. We worked for several government agencies local and federal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, and client expectations are exceeded throughout the duration of the project(s)
  • Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectations
  • Leadership and relationship building
  • Effectively facilitates collaboration among team members
  • Effectively communicate with all stakeholders
  • Manage Interns and Assistant Estimators
  • Participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews
  • Develop others and act as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Prepare an in-house budget and GMP
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing to establish a value for the work.
  • Understand the full scope of the project through document review, asking questions of the design team and subcontractors
  • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis
  • Prepare qualifications and assumptions for the estimate
  • Prepare cost comparisons/reconcile with previous estimates
  • Reconcile with outside Estimators
  • Manage subcontractor solicitation & selection process
  • Ensure quality control of departments bids and estimates
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Masters Degree required, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field
  • Master required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating, or equivalent
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel spread sheets, and Word processing programs
  • Experience with estimating software such as iSqFt, On-screen Takeoff, Proest and Bluebeam
  • Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing
  • Actively participate as a team member working effectively with all colleagues and constituents
  • Detail oriented with problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Sense of urgency and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Able to take ownership of projects/clients managing both up and down
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Able to work with speed and efficiency
  • Able to anticipate issues, reactions, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • While typical work week is Monday-Friday some Saturday’s will be needed for events and additional work
