Starting rate for a minimum of 2 years experience is $15/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The medical assistant’s primary role is to provide safe, efficient, and appropriate patient care under the direction of the provider or other supervisory clinical staff, and to function as an integral part of the patient-centered primary care team. The medical assistant also supports administrative functions that assist in the provision of efficient care, such as follow up phone calls and letters at the direction of the care team clinician. Assist the clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures.
JOB DUTIES
- Perform intake duties as part of patient care workflow including escorting patients to examination rooms and preparing them for the clinician
- interviewing patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height; recording patients' medical history
- Perform discharge duties as part of patient care workflow.
- Coordinate with check-out Patient Services Representative to ensure patient completes the check-out process.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Maintain clinical stock in rooms per office expectations. Clean rooms between visits per NHCLV infection control policy.
- Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing, send to appropriate designated lab based on insurance status or other program criteria.
- Ability to administer and document immunizations/vaccines safely.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by clinicians.
- Perform tasks related to appropriate patient follow-up visits, including obtaining all necessary.
- Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.

COVID-19 considerations:
NHCLV is very proactive in preventative measures related to COVID-19 including routine preventative measures (i.e. PPE, temperature checks, screenings) as well as integrated HVAC air cleansing units.

- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Medical Assistant: 2 years (Required)
Language:
- Spanish (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
