Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the analysis of the monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. This includes data gathering and analysis, and communication of the results to the Assistant Controller, Controller and Hospital management. This position also monitors and analyzes the financial operations of specific segments of the Hospital’s operations, including gross revenue and all operating expenses to ensure proper accruals and assist management in resource management and business planning. The Senior Accountant also reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and researches discrepancies, prepares monthly journal entries, and responds to employee and corporate inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned.

II. Position Requirements: (Minimum qualifications for the position)

Licensure/Certification/Registration: An MBA, MHA, CPA or similar certification is helpful

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Required

Experience: Two to three years of work experience required, preferably involving healthcare. Supervisory experience is helpful.

Special qualifications: Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period. Employee should possess leadership skills, and some supervisory experience. Employee must be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff and senior leadership. Excellent oral and written communication skills are desirable.

Hours of work: As required.

III. Primary Job Duties:

Analyze data and statistical reports and prepare financial reports.

Receive financial reports and assure the proper recording and documentation of transactions into accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Corporate principles.

Create and assign accounts; maintain accounting records; and prepare journal entries.

Perform balance sheet reconciliations. Audit and balance Faculty Practice Plan (FPP) and other accounts receivables from computer and manual operations. Keep management advised of irregularities.

Update and improve departmental processes and workflow.

Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special projects both internal and external relating to Dept & Hospital Services.

Active involvement in the budget process to include data entry, analyses and communication with Department Managers.

Supervise staff on special projects as needed.

Assist in the reviews of the monthly Hospital department financial operations.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
